Our trip around Slovakia is planned in a way that will allow you to visit three various parts of the country – Eastern, Northern and Western Slovakia (including the capital city).
Differences between those regions are more than noticeable. Simple villages and beautiful nature in the eastern part of Slovakia, popular tourist area of the High Tatras in the Northern Slovakia and pleasant capital city Bratislava situated along the Danube River.

Monday
A hilly landscape of the Central Slovakia with famous historical mining towns – Banská Štiavnica, Banská Bystrica and Kremnica.
08:00 am departure from Bratislava (after breakfast);

After a short sightseeing in the Old Town you have a free time to choose your lunch menu at one of the local restaurants.
A truly charming, beautiful and pleasant ancient mining town inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Nature Heritage List. The Old Town is full of narrow and steep streets, historical architecture with fresco wall paintings. In the middle of the square you can see the Baroque Holy Trinity Column. The Old and the New Castle – architectural dominants of the town are situated on the hill above the city.

1:30 pm visit at the Glanzenberg mining hill Gallery;
We shall visit the oldest accessible mining gallery in Banská Štiavnica dated of 14th
century. The mining gallery stretches out under the Old Town and has been visited by many significant personalities of the past and present.
It should be noticed that the first technical college in the world – the Mining Academy – has been established in 1762 in Banská Štiavnica (under the reign of empress of Maria Theresa). It brought this historical mining city (mostly silver and gold ores) the status of the centre of mining science and technology development in Europe.

Close to the town of Martin an Ecco shoe factory, a known danish shoe brand, is situated. Shoes can be bought for 1/3 of the original price, when selled in the official shops.

Tuesday
The High Tatras is the most popular tourist destination in Slovakia. In the course of the winter season the mountains offer a wide range of winter sports and in summer you can enjoy wandering or mountains climbing. The tallest peak in the High Tatras is Gerlachovský štít (2654 m.)
Departure after breakfast at 8:30 am;
Morning: 9:30 am – visit of the Belianska cave. The footpath leading to the cave is raising up and you have to overcome the attitude difference of 122 m. Belianska cave is situated at an attitude of 890 metres above the sea level. It takes ca 20 minutes to the cave. The sightseeing tour duration is 70 minutes.
Belianska cave was discovered at the end of 19th century and it consists of more than 3 km long underground corridors. At present the sightseeing around the cave itself consists of 1,2 km long track. Belianska cave is famous for its numerous underground little lakes as well as waterfalls and stalagmites. Thanks to bacteria-free climate conditions the cave is used for climatic therapy, especially is suitable for the treatment of people with asthmatic diseases.
11:30 am arrival to Starý Smokovec – lunch at your own disposal;
Smokovce consists of a chain of small mountain towns situated 1200 metres above the sea level in the foothills of the High Tatras. This tourist area has a great number of wandering paths as well as ski lifts and funicular railway. All these towns which stretches from Tatranská Lomnica in the east to Štrbské Pleso to the west are connected to each other with a tramway-like railway (total length of ca 35 km).
The most known holiday resort is Starý Smokovec with several picturesque luxury hotels built in Art Nouveau/Secession Style in the beginning of 20th century. Here you can find good restaurants,shopping centre and sports shops.
At 13:00 pm we shall take the modern funicular railway (a comfortable ground cable car), which is operating from Starý Smokovec to a lower mountain hill of Hrebienok. From this summit station situated at 1280 metres above the sea level you can enjoy the panoramic view of the High Tatras. On the Hrebienok top hill there are good accommodation possibilities (2 mountain hostels). Hrebienok is an excellent starting point of numerous high mountain routes as well as easier wandering paths. For instance you can choose the wandering track to the nearby situated Studenohorske waterfalls. It takes ca. 45 minutes to go there and back to Hrebienok.
After a cup of coffee and a cake at Bílikova chalet, we will walk down to Studenohorske waterfalls. Those, who are not interested to take a tour, can wait at the chalet and just enjoy the view.

Wednesday
Spiš is one of the country's richest regions in architectural historical monuments. It is a district situated between the High Tatras and the Eastern Slovakia.
9:00 am departure after breakfast from High Tatras to Košice;
Morning: visit of Levoča; arrival at ca.10:00 am
The little ancient town Levoca is known for its magnificent house architecture. Precious public and sacral buildings has been a cultural, economical and political centre of the whole Spiš region. Spis /or in German “Zips”/ was also a centre of German medieval colonisation and the German culture heritage is still present here up to our days.
Visit of the St. James Church; at 10:30 am
In the middle of the Levoča main square stands one of the most important sacral monuments of Slovakia – the 14th century-old Gothic church. You will find here the main altar – the wooden Late-Gothic masterpiece - made by Pavel (Paul) of Levoča. This extraordinary sacral art object at a hight of 18.6 meters is the highest Gothic altar in the world.
Close to the St. James Church there are other historical monuments as for example the former Town Hall, which is one of the finest buildings of secular renaissance architecture in Slovakia.
After sightseeing you have a free time to choose your lunch menu at one of the local restaurants situated on the main square.

Afternoon: visit of the castle Spišký hrad, expected arrival ca 1:00 pm
Spišské Podhoradie is a common name for 2 important Slovak historical monuments, which are inscribed on the UNESCO Culture and Nature World Heritage List. The first one is the largest medieval Castle ruins in Central Europe (surface of more than 4 ha). The Castle compound is bordered by a strong fortification walls. The Castle originates from the 11th century and became a seat of the head of the Spis region for many centuries. In 1780 the castle was destroyed by fire and gradually fell in ruins. After preserving works in 1970s the Castle Spišsky Hrad became a home for collections of the Spišske Museum (castle history documentation, expositions of medieval arms and feudal jurisdiction).
The second monument being on the UNESCO List are the medieval little towns of Spišské Podhradie and Spišská
Kapitula situated in the foothills of the Castle. The ancient Spišska Kapitula with its dominant cultural monument – the Late Roman Style St. Martin Cathedral is a seat of Roman Catholic Church since the middle of 13th century.

Thursday
Košice is the second largest city in Slovakia, situated in the south-eastern corner of the country. For the centuries it has been a metropolis of Eastern Slovakia, being its natural centre of culture, trade and education.
The medieval Old Town has been renovated for some years ago and offers many interesting places for walking or shopping. You also can enjoy local cuisine special dishes and drinks at several restaurants and cafés.
Morning: Sightseeing tour in Košice combined with a visit of the monumental Cathedral of St. Elisabeth and of the crypt. It is a largest church in Slovakia and the easternmost situated Gothic cathedral of Western type in Europe.
In therms of importance and size the town Košice ranks right after the capital Bratislava and lies in the eastern part of Slovakia, not far away from the borders with Hungary (20 km), Poland (90 km) and Ukraine (80 km). The proximity of neighbouring countries reflects the richness and multicultural spirit of the city. Košice was founded by German colonists from Lower Saxony and the Slav settlers in the 12th century. Since that time it became an important free royal town in the old Kingdom of Hungary. At present Košice has ca. 250.000 habitants.
The city center is one of the Slovak largest and best preserved historical old town with several valuable buildings and monuments. The square and pedestrian street are on the Slovak National Culture Heritage List. In the middle of the original Middle Age square you will also find a modern “singing” fountain.

Bratislava
Departure from Kosice at 8:00 am;
1:00 pm arrival to Bratislava and accommodation at the hotel;
2:00 pm sightseeing tour around the Old Town;
The first part of the sightseeing bus tour will take you to the President Palace, to the Bratislava Castle and the Slavin memorial /war memorial-cemetery commemorating the fallen Soviet Army soldiers who liberated Bratislava and Slovakia in 1945/. After that we will continue with a walking sightseeing of the historical city centre. The tour will finish at ca. 5:00 pm.

Saturday
Morning: 10:00 am – a boat trip to the castle Devin. The trip lasts approximately 1.5 hours. The bus will take you from the hotel to the harbour.
Boats from the Bratislava harbour to the ruins of the ancient Castle Devin operate from April to September. Castle
Devin is situated on the picturesque confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers.
Return tour by bus to the Bratislava Old Town;

Departure from Bratislava to the Vienna airport at 8:00 am;
Departure from Vienna at 11:05 am with arrival to Copenhagen at 12:50 am;
